Helping Teens feel understood, seen, empowered and confident

Dear teens,

I see you. I know life can feel overwhelming—like no one truly gets what you’re going through. Maybe you feel stuck, anxious, or unsure of who you really are. Maybe you feel like you're carrying a weight that no one else sees.

Don’t worry; you’re not alone and there is nothing wrong with you.

Coaching is different from therapy. It’s not about diagnosing or fixing you—it’s about giving you a space where you can be 100% yourself without judgment. It’s a space to talk about the things you don’t say out loud (because that is actually really important!), to gain confidence, and to start understanding yourself in a way that feels empowering and real.

If you're feeling lost, stressed, or just want someone to talk to who truly listens without judgment—I'm here to support, guide, and cheer you on.

Let's work together to manage stressful moments and find a path to start feeling good about who you are.

I can’t wait to meet you!

How can coaching help your teen?

  • They feel relieved to have a safe, non-judgmental space to share about set-backs, worries, and successes

  • Learning brain-based techniques helps them to feel empowered and more focused.

  • Understanding the power of their thoughts and perspectives builds the skill of a positive mindset

  • A place to talk through the ‘compare and despair’ of social media anxiety to see things more clearly

  • Your teen will start to learn the tools of mindfulness that will be helpful for the rest of their life (think focused attention, discretion, self-awareness, ability to work through difficult emotions).

  • Learning better communication skills helps them manage conflict with friends, mismatched teachers, or in family life

Dear Parents,

I know how much you want the best for your teen. Watching them struggle—whether with anxiety, self-doubt, social pressures, or just figuring out who they are—can be heartbreaking. You want to help, but maybe they don’t open up to you the way they used to. Maybe they say, “I’m fine,” but you know they’re not.

No matter how amazing you are as a parent (and let me tell you- you’re doing great!) your child will still want and need support and guidance outside of your parent/child relationship, especially through their teen years. It really does take a village. Support yourself and them by encouraging a strong role model, mentor, or coach to help them find their way.

During the confusing years when the brain is rewiring, the body is changing, and the hormones are raging- most teens are dealing with an incredible amount of self-doubt and constantly feel like they are doing it all wrong.  It can feel next to impossible to talk to their parents openly about it (normal); and their friends are navigating the same challenges, unable to give the grounded guidance they are looking for.  At a time where every cell is biologically wired to try to fit in and act "normal”, it’s hard to ask for help.   This part of life can be easier with the right mentor to guide them through this stage and talk openly about life challenges.

This is where coaching comes in. I provide a safe, judgment-free space where teens can talk openly, explore what’s really going on beneath the surface, and start to build the confidence and self-awareness they need to navigate life’s challenges.

After working with teens as a school psychologist for the past 16 years and as a mindfulness teacher for 10, I have found that I have a natural empathy, sense of humor and directness hat helps them to relax and open up. I understand how to meet them where they are. My approach is down-to-earth, practical, and even fun. I offer teens a safe space to understand that they are not broken- and practical ways to know themselves better.

If you’re looking for someone your teen can trust—someone who speaks their language and helps them grow in a way that feels natural—let’s connect.

How can a coach for your teen help you as a parent?

  • You Don’t Have to Do It Alone – Parenting a teen can be exhausting, especially when they shut you out. A coach provides expert guidance and support, so you don’t have to carry the weight of helping them navigate everything on your own.

  • Less Tension, More Connection – When your teen has a safe space to process their emotions and challenges, they’re less likely to take out their stress on you.

  • Reassurance That They’re Getting the Right Support – It’s hard to know if you’re saying or doing the “right” thing. A coach gives your teen tools for emotional resilience, confidence, and self-awareness—so you can feel at ease knowing they’re in good hands.

  • Relief from Constant Worry – If you’re staying up at night wondering if your teen is okay, coaching provides an extra layer of support. You’ll feel comforted knowing they have a mentor who understands them and is guiding them toward a healthier, happier path.

  • More Peace, Less Pressure – You want the best for your teen, but it’s not all on you to figure out how to help them thrive. A coach gives them the skills and confidence to navigate life, so you can step back, breathe, and trust that they’re growing into their best self.

How It Works:

  • Free Consultation – Finding a “good match” is critical to the coaching relationship. Let’s chat to see if it’s a good fit. No pressure.

  • 1:1 Coaching Sessions – Weekly or bi-weekly virtual sessions that fit into your teen’s life.

  • A Personalized Approach – Every teen is different, so we tailor coaching to what they need most.

  • Parent Consultation- sessions are available if needed and requested to support the strategies and concepts your child is learning and practicing. While the details of our sessions are kept confidential to ensure their comfort in sharing, once I get to know them better and have a few session; it can be very beneficial to learn a few ways to grow along side of them and also feel supported.

“One important thing I have learned from coaching is that I can be really hard on myself without even noticing it- so now I can be kinder to myself.  I'm also able to communicate easier with others and I have a sense of calm even when I'm talking about hard topics.  Kelly is a really good coach and she makes getting help a positive experience!"

  • Teen Coaching allows young people to understand themselves better and go through challenging moments with a bit more ease as they begin to shape their independent lives. Coaching allows a teen to navigate through obstacles that may arise (problem solving) and learn accountability/self-responsibility, bringing forth the feeling of pride and accomplishment. Bi-weekly goal setting allows for the understanding and experience of success, building a fundamental foundation to lead a productive adult life. Coaching can aid social skill building, self-confidence, and self-worth, lower anxiety, and reach academic performance goals. The framework is to meet once a week for eight weeks. Most teens ask for a follow-up session after the initial eight weeks, but it is not necessarily needed!

  • Goal Setting: A coach can help teens identify and set clear, achievable goals for various aspects of their lives, such as academics, extracurricular activities, personal development, and future aspirations. This can help teens develop a sense of direction and purpose.

Confidence and Self-Esteem: Adolescence can be a challenging time for self-esteem and confidence. Coaches can work with teens to build their self-confidence, improve self-image, and develop a positive mindset.

Stress and Anxiety Management: Teens often face stressors related to school, peer pressure, and transitions. Coaches can teach stress management techniques, coping strategies, and mindfulness practices to help teens better handle stress and anxiety.

Decision-Making: Adolescents face important decisions about their education, career, and personal lives. A life coach can provide a supportive and objective perspective to help teens make informed decisions and set a course for their future.

Communication Skills: Coaches can assist teens in improving their communication skills, both with peers and adults. This includes active listening, conflict resolution, and assertiveness training, which can be valuable in various social and academic contexts.

Motivation and Accountability: Coaches can help teens stay motivated and accountable for their goals and commitments. Regular coaching sessions provide a structured framework for tracking progress and making necessary adjustments.

Parent-Teen Relationships: Coaches can facilitate improved communication and understanding between teenagers and their parents, helping to navigate the challenges of adolescence and foster healthier relationships at home.

Transition Support: Life coaches can assist teens in managing transitions such as moving to a new school, preparing for college or vocational training, or transitioning from high school to adulthood. They can provide guidance during these critical periods of change.

Resilience and Problem-Solving: Coaches can teach teens resilience skills, helping them bounce back from setbacks and develop problem-solving abilities. This can be particularly valuable in preparing teens to face life's challenges with confidence.

  • Professionally, I have been a school psychologist for 15 years; working with teens in middle and high school and helping them through difficult situations. I am also a certified coach. I have studied psychology since the age of 18 and have a deep passion for understanding human behavior. I have gone through extensive training in teaching mindfulness to both children and adults and I bring that into all of my work as a foundation of self-awareness. I have witnessed the limits of what can be done for mental health in a school setting and also the limits of what can be done within the immediate family. Seeing these limitations inspired me to expand out to a mentor role to further help and be a positive impact in the lives of teens.

Personally, I struggled a great deal as a teen. While the suggestions and help my parents provided me with were amazing for planting seeds- it was hard to fully accept their support while simultaneously trying to be more independent. As I look back, it was the help of teachers, coaches and people I met along my way that brought me the greatest relief and guidance. I have a profound ability to help people feel validated and heard while encouraging them to move forward toward action. I am goal orientated and understand that we only begin to build our self-worth if we begin to take baby steps to start believing it’s possible.

  • Definitely. Life coaching is not intended to help people recover from emotional or other psychological disorders such as clinical depression, substance abuse, disordered eating, physical and emotional abuse, and any other psychological condition that requires a deep therapeutic approach of one's past to facilitate healing. Therapy would be the right protocol in those situations.

  • Your teen will work with me for six sessions, meeting bi-weekly (flexible based on what comes up in life!). Your teen will look forward to their sessions as a time of personalized support just for them. Coaching sessions can continue on, but 6 weeks is the minimum you can sign your teen up for.

  • As building new skills and resilience takes time and practice, I offer an six-session coaching package for a $485 investment. (Coaching sessions can continue on, but 6 weeks is the minimum you can sign your teen up for).

The coaching package includes: 60 minute sessions and confidential email support between sessions where I can connect with, uplift, and inspire your teen until their next session.

  • Open communication between the teen, parents, and the coach can most definitely contribute to a successful coaching experience. However, coaching sessions are kept confidential so that the teen/coach can build trust. I am open to conversations in general and suggestions of how to best support your teen during the coaching process.

  • Individual sessions can be rescheduled with 24-hour advanced notice. Refunds for unexplained missed sessions are not given.

  • You can pay through the website with a credit card (there is a 3% CC transaction fee applied), Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.
