Life Coaching
For teens
Dear Parents,
Parenting is hard! No matter how amazing you are as a parent (and let me tell you- you’re doing great!) your child will still want and need support and guidance outside of your parent/child relationship, especially through their teen years. It really does take a village. Support yourself and them by encouraging a strong role model, mentor or coach to help them find their way.
Because, adolescence is also hard! During the confusing years when the brain is growing, the body is changing, and the hormones are raging- most teens are dealing with an incredible amount of self-doubt and constantly feel like they are doing it all wrong. It can feel next to impossible to talk to their parents openly about it (normal); and their friends are navigating the same challenges, unable to give the grounded guidance they are looking for. At a time where every cell is biologically wired to try to fit in and act "normal”, it’s hard to ask for help. This part of life can be easier with the right mentor to guide them through this stage and talk openly about life challenges.
I am here to be that mentor. After working with teens for the past 16 years, I have found that I have a natural empathy and directness that helps them to relax and open up.
With humor, non-judgment, and a proven toolkit of empowering and perspective-shifting practices, I offer adolescents a safe space to understand that they are not broken- and practical ways to know themselves better.
How can coaching help your teen?

Teen Coaching allows young people to understand themselves better and go through challenging moments with a bit more ease as they begin to shape their independent lives. Coaching allows a teen to navigate through obstacles that may arise (problem solving) and learn accountability/self-responsibility, bringing forth the feeling of pride and accomplishment. Weekly goal setting allows for the understanding and experience of success, building a fundamental foundation to lead a productive adult life. Coaching can aid social skill building, self-confidence, and self-worth, lower anxiety, and reach academic performance goals. The framework is to meet once a week for eight weeks. Most teens ask for a follow-up session after the initial eight weeks, but it is not necessarily needed!

Goal Setting: A coach can help teens identify and set clear, achievable goals for various aspects of their lives, such as academics, extracurricular activities, personal development, and future aspirations. This can help teens develop a sense of direction and purpose.
Confidence and Self-Esteem: Adolescence can be a challenging time for self-esteem and confidence. Coaches can work with teens to build their self-confidence, improve self-image, and develop a positive mindset.
Stress and Anxiety Management: Teens often face stressors related to school, peer pressure, and transitions. Coaches can teach stress management techniques, coping strategies, and mindfulness practices to help teens better handle stress and anxiety.
Decision-Making: Adolescents face important decisions about their education, career, and personal lives. A life coach can provide a supportive and objective perspective to help teens make informed decisions and set a course for their future.
Communication Skills: Coaches can assist teens in improving their communication skills, both with peers and adults. This includes active listening, conflict resolution, and assertiveness training, which can be valuable in various social and academic contexts.
Motivation and Accountability: Coaches can help teens stay motivated and accountable for their goals and commitments. Regular coaching sessions provide a structured framework for tracking progress and making necessary adjustments.
Parent-Teen Relationships: Coaches can facilitate improved communication and understanding between teenagers and their parents, helping to navigate the challenges of adolescence and foster healthier relationships at home.
Transition Support: Life coaches can assist teens in managing transitions such as moving to a new school, preparing for college or vocational training, or transitioning from high school to adulthood. They can provide guidance during these critical periods of change.
Resilience and Problem-Solving: Coaches can teach teens resilience skills, helping them bounce back from setbacks and develop problem-solving abilities. This can be particularly valuable in preparing teens to face life's challenges with confidence.

Professionally, I have been a school psychologist for 15 years; working with teens in middle and high school and helping them through difficult situations. I am also a certified coach. I have studied psychology since the age of 18 and have a deep passion for understanding human behavior. I have gone through extensive training in teaching mindfulness to both children and adults and I bring that into all of my work as a foundation of self-awareness. I have witnessed the limits of what can be done for mental health in a school setting and also the limits of what can be done within the immediate family. Seeing these limitations inspired me to expand out to a mentor role to further help and be a positive impact in the lives of teens.
Personally, I struggled a great deal as a teen. While the suggestions and help my parents provided me with were amazing for planting seeds- it was hard to fully accept their support while simultaneously trying to be more independent. As I look back, it was the help of teachers, coaches and people I met along my way that brought me the greatest relief and guidance. I have a profound ability to help people feel validated and heard while encouraging them to move forward toward action. I am goal orientated and understand that we only begin to build our self-worth if we begin to take baby steps to start believing it’s possible.

Definitely. Life coaching is not intended to help people recover from emotional or other psychological disorders such as clinical depression, substance abuse, disordered eating, physical and emotional abuse, and any other psychological condition that requires a deep therapeutic approach of one's past to facilitate healing. Therapy would be the right protocol in those situations.

As building new skills and resilience takes time and practice, I offer an eight-session coaching package for a $575 investment. (Coaching sessions can continue on, but 8 weeks is the minimum you can sign your teen up for).
The coaching package includes:
Confidential email support between sessions where I can connect with, uplift, and inspire your teen until their next session. I’ll also share videos, books, podcasts, and other resources to keep your teen motivated and moving forward.

Open communication between the teen, parents, and the coach can most definitely contribute to a successful coaching experience. However, coaching sessions are kept confidential so that the teen/coach can build trust. I am open to conversations in general and suggestions of how to best support your teen during the coaching process.
-
Individual sessions can be rescheduled with 24-hour advanced notice. Refunds for unexplained missed sessions are not given.
-
You can pay through the website with a credit card (there is a 3% CC transaction fee applied), Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle.
Where should I start?
Finding a “good match” is critical to the coaching relationship. Before committing to sessions, let’s start with a free 30 minute consultation call to meet with you and your teen. We’ll have an informal chat so they (and you) can get a feel of what it’s like to work with me and determine for themselves if they feel comfortable and excited to start the process.
